Indo-Canadian Man Dead After Fight At A Surrey McDonald’s

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is seeking public assistance to further its investigation into the homicide of a Surrey resident Lakhwinder Singh Bal. IHIT is confirming 48-year-old Bal of Surrey was the victim of homicide.  Bal was known to police and investigators believe his murder was not a random act.  

SURREY – An Indo-Canadian man is dead after a fight at a Surrey McDonald’s

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is seeking public assistance to further its investigation into the homicide of a Surrey resident Lakhwinder Singh Bal.

On Sunday night at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Surrey RCMP received a report of a fight by the McDonald’s restaurant near 129th Street and 96th Avenue.  When emergency services arrived, they found an unresponsive man lying in the parking lot.  The victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. 

IHIT was called in to takeconduct of the investigation.  

IHIT is working closely with its partners from the Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to gather evidence. 

IHIT is confirming 48-year-old Bal of Surrey was the victim of homicide.  Bal was known to police and investigators believe his murder was not a random act.  

Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT says, “We need those who knew Mr. Bal to come forward and assist our investigators piece together a time line of his activities leading up to his death.”
